About Me

The experiences that form my perspective are many…

My faith. I was raised in the christian faith (Mennonite) and later, as a young married man, had a profound spiritual awakening that energized my faith and changed me at the core. That was 1992 and continues to be a defining moment for me, affecting my everyday life.

My art. I’ve been performing music publicly all my life, and professionally for 14+ years: 5 as a gigging musician and 9 now in fulltime worship ministry. I also enjoy graphic and visual arts, and video production.

My career. I’m a worship pastor. I’m generally arts-based in my core specialties and spirituality-based in my core passions, so I do what I can to bring the two together in a way that can help people find peace with God.

My family. I married my long-distance high school sweetheart 22 years ago, and we have four kids. I love them all. I’m also a long-distance identical twin and I love him too.

My studies. Very formative has been my daily habit of feeding on Scripture. God gave me a hunger for it back in ‘92 and I just keep feeding it everyday. I also have a hunger for other knowledge, and tend to feed on theology and spirituality, especially worship and related areas. I’m nearing completion of an MA in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.

My life. Through all these things, with all their many stressors and joys, God is always wonderfully shaping my ideas about what it means to be christian in this world. And I’m finding that it’s not necessarily what I’ve always thought.

The one thing I continue to be sure of is that God is good, God is love and Jesus Christ is the image of God. All the other details are under continuous surveillance, and that, in part, is what this blog is about!
